Photo editing,
explained clearly
A remote seminar series covering everything from raw file basics to advanced retouching — structured for people who want to get past trial and error.

What we cover
Six sessions,
one clear path
Each session tackles one specific area of editing — not a surface-level overview but a working understanding you can apply the same day. Sessions build on each other, but recorded replays mean you can catch up if you miss one.
Raw file foundations
How cameras actually capture light, what raw files contain, and why the same image looks different in Lightroom versus your phone's gallery app.
Exposure and tone control
Reading histograms without guessing. Shadows, highlights, whites, blacks — each slider explained with real before/after work on participant images.
Colour grading in Lightroom
HSL adjustments, colour wheels, and the difference between correcting colour and deliberately styling it. We cover how to make a look repeatable with presets.
Photoshop selection tools
Subject Select, Refine Edge, and masking workflows — practical scenarios like cutting out hair or isolating skies where automated tools fall short.
Portrait retouching
Frequency separation, dodge and burn, and how to retouch skin so it still looks like skin. We spend time on what not to do, which matters just as much.
Export and output
Colour profiles, resolution, sharpening for screen vs print, and file formats. Small decisions here visibly affect how your edits look when shared.

Session format
How each seminar actually runs
Sessions are held live via video with screen sharing — you watch the instructor edit in real time, then work through the same steps on your own files while the group is still online.
Questions get answered during a dedicated block at the end, not squeezed into chat. If something specific comes up during the week between sessions, you can post it to the group thread and get a response before the next meeting.
